Kahlil Gibran’s illustrations are taken from his following works:

2. Twenty Drawings (1919)
3. The Forerunner (1920)
4. The Prophet (1923)
5. Sand and Foam (1926)
6. Jesus the Son of Man (1928)
7. The Earth Gods (1931)
8. The Wanderer (1932)
9. The Garden of the Prophet (1933)

In addition is Alice Pearl Raphael’s essay On the Art of Kahlil Gibran published as the introduction to Twenty Drawings.

First published in September 1918, The Madman contains three illustrations.

2. Crucified on the Tower of Humanity and Religions
3. The Madman (When the Sun Kissed His Own Naked Face for the First Time)

In the first printing of September 1918, this illustration is in sepia. In all subsequent printings, it is in black and white.
